Langley Rivermen forward Marcus Vela is the top-ranked Canadian junior A prospect for this June’s NHL draft.
Vela was ranked 131st on the North American skaters list by NHL Central Scouting, which released their final 2015 draft rankings on Wednesday.
He is one of 11 Canadian junior A hockey players on the list.
Vela, an 18-year-old from Burnaby, had 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games last season. He also played on Canada West at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge and played in the CJHL Prospects Game. The six-foot-two forward has committed to the University of New Hampshire for next season.
