The Vernon Vipers rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the third period to tie the Merritt Centennials 3-3 in B.C. Hockey League action Friday at Merritt’s Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

The Snakes close out the first half of the season with a game in Trail Saturday night.

After a scoreless opening period, the Centennials beat Ty Taylor twice in the middle frame, added a third goal seven minutes into the third and looked to be on their way to victory.

Niko Karamanis, with his 12th of the year, got Vernon on the board at 8:59, starting the 11-minute rally.

Austin Adamson pulled Vernon to within one with his sixth of the year at 14:04, and defenceman Michael Ufberg brought the Vipers all the way back with a powerplay goal (his sixth of the season) at 15:09.

There was no scoring in the two overtime periods.

Taylor finished with 28 saves. The Vipers fired 50 shots on Merritt goalie Jacob Berger, named the game’s first star.
