The VIU Mariners mix up the schedule this week with a road game and then a home game, back-to-back.
Vancouver Island University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams play PacWest league games against the Camosun Chargers on Thursday (Jan. 26) in Victoria and then the Columbia Bible College Bearcats the next night at the VIU gym.
Mariners men’s coach Matt Kuzminski said the rare Thursday game means one fewer practice this week, but said his team will adjust.
Though the Chargers and Bearcats are well back in the standings, Kuzminski said the games will both be a challege, particularly the road matchup against a physical squad that rebounds well.
“We haven’t seen Camosun since the first league game of the year so I think they’ll be a lot different. They’ve had a few personnel changes,” he said.
On Friday at VIU, the women’s game is at 6 p.m. and the men follow at 8 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and alumni, $2 for youths and free for VIU students.
