Vancouver Island University’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams began the PacWest season this past weekend with a home-and-home series against the Camosun Chargers.
The women lost both matches, falling in three sets on Friday in Victoria and then in four sets the next day at the VIU gym. Friday’s scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-22. On Saturday, game scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18.
The men began the season with a straight-sets win on the road, 25-11, 26-24, 25-19, but lost the rematch in four sets, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21.
The teams visit the Capilano Blues in North Vancouver on Friday (Oct. 24) and Saturday. Next home action at the VIU gym is Oct. 31, when the squads take on the Fraser Valley Cascades.
