Silver Star Mountain Resort will host the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance Western Interski team trials Thursday.

Sixty of Western Canada’s best ski instructors will compete to be on the initial team heading to Interski Bulgaria in 2019.“Being chosen as a member of the CSIA Interski team is a major milestone in an instructor’s career,” said Kristy Jahn-Smith, Silver Star marketing manager.

“SilverStar has a number of members who have had the privilege of representing their country at this prestigious event — Brian James, Norm Crerar, Guy Paulsen, Simon Holden, Marie Cat Bruno, Martin Olson and Norman Kreutz to name a few.”

Residents are urged to come out Thursday to see some of the best skiers in Western Canada vie for a spot on the team.“We have about 50 level four ski instructors trying out,” said Jahn-Smith.

The day will go as follows:

  • Run #1 – Start- 9 a.m. on Holy Smokes

    • Four runs will be judged and marked on Holy Smokes. One right after another
  • Bump Run – we are looking to use High Lead

Every four years, Interski holds the world’s largest congress for the exchange of snow sports methodologies and techniques between the member nations. Interski has 37 member countries including all of the leading northern and southern hemisphere alpine nations.
