White Rapids winners at provincials

The Nanaimo White Rapids, hosts of the provincial championships, were one of the fastest teams there.

The Nanaimo White Rapids, hosts of the provincial championships, were one of the fastest teams there. The club held the B.C. Summer Swimming Association championships from Monday through Sunday at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.

Five White Rapids swimmers are provincial champions. Hayley Price won swimming’s fastest event, the 50-metre freestyle, in her Div. 6 division, Ian Mattock won the 200m individual medley among Div. 8 men and Zackary Todd was first to touch the wall in the 100m freestyle in Div. 5. Kira Edwards and Jackson James won races in Cat. 0.

The Rapids also medalled in both water polo and in diving.
