The White Rock Dodgers were in the mood to celebrate last Tuesday, after capturing a bantam baseball title in Ladner.
The U15 tier 1 squad won the district championship after a 12-5 win over the Ladner Mariners.
Pitcher Jason Brennan was credited with the win for the Peninsula team.
For White Rock, a district title may have seemed out of reach at the start of the year, considering the team started slowly with just two wins in their first seven contests. But the team went on a tear midway through the schedule, reeling off eight wins in their final 10 games.
The Dodgers had to win their last two games of the regular-season just to qualify for the tier 1 playoff tournament.
Their Ladner opponents, meanwhile, finished first in the regular season – out of 13 teams – and were favoured to win the championship.
In semifinals, the Dodgers defeated the White Rock Yankees 7-2.
