Nanaimo’s high school wrestlers are in top form at the right time of the season.
Locals did well last month at the Campbell River Invitational. Faye Tuck was selected Outstanding Female Wrestler at the tournament, not allowing a single point scored against her in her senior girls’ division. Dover Bay’s Kimberly van Hest won gold in another senior girls’ division. Gabby Robson of North Cedar Intermediate won gold and defeated one of her opponents in just six seconds. Ian Tuck, a junior-aged athlete competing in the senior boys’ division, took bronze.
The Vancouver Island championships are this month leading up to the B.C. School Sports provincial championships in Prince George in March.
