You’re invited to witness a speedskating competition firsthand

The Salmon Arm Icebreakers speed skating club is hosting  a short track race competition Sunday, Feb.19 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.  This competition is the first meet put on by the local club, and is a follow-up to the Learn to Skate program that is wrapping up this week. Those skaters will participate along with more experienced club skaters from Vernon, Kelowna, and Kamloops. Mayor Nancy Cooper will attend for support, and MP Colin Mayes will will start the first race. The objective is to showcase speed skating to the community, so anyone interested is encouraged to attend and admission is free to watch this exciting sport.
